The sacred mountain peak where the Buddha's feet are located; Sripada
First, I am lucky to be born in Ratnapura. Because the city is home to three main routes to the sacred foothills of the Buddha, the Buddha I worship. Sri Pada is about 2,243 meters above sea level, and it is also located in the central hills on the border of Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces. It usually begins with the Unduwap Poya day in December and ends with the Vesak Poya day in May.
From my personal experience, I have made the pilgrimage to the Sri Pada via all three of these main routes, and the most beautiful route is the Kuruwita Erathna route. It is a natural route, a beautiful forest road and a beautiful path with many streams flowing through it.But the Sri Palabaddala route is of historical value. It is known as the Raja Mawatha. Although many devotees use all three routes during the Sri Pada pilgrimage season, a large number of them choose the Hatton route because of the shorter distance.
Among the unique things to see at Siripa Maluwa is the sacred place at the foot of the Buddha statue located at the top of the mountain.
The villagers believe that Sri Patula and this sacred mountain are under the protection of the god of Sumana Saman.
See you in the next chapter, Thank you.
